Summary

What might the next presidential debate look like? To you, it will be one big waterfall of tears. You'll either laugh 'till you cry or bawl your eyes out because you recognize all of the screwballs both behind the podium and in the audience!

Version 1.0 will include a PDF version.

Current Status

"The Political Debate" is complete but needs another set of eyes to correct any minor typos.

What about turning the script into a film?

You want to turn this into a film? Awesome! I'd love to see that! Check out my production suggestions.

If you're looking to not make any money off a production, the copyright I have chosen allows you to do so. In very rare cases, I may make an exception for charity (and I'm not talking political parties or candidates). If there is a charity you'd like me to consider, email me with as much information about the charity as you can and I'll consider it.

Version Numbers and Future Updates

You'll notice a version number on the script. It's a way for me to keep track of the different versions out there. It's also a way for you to keep track of the different versions that will be coming.

This particular version of the script (version 0.1) will not undergo any further revisions, but it could use a once-over to correct any typos. It will eventually become version 1.0.

I'm also going to reserve the right to update this script for the 2016 candidates. Every year when elections roll around, I am astonished by how much lower we stoop in American politics. It doesn't take long before I start to think "It can't stoop any lower." Then it does. Finally, after the elections, I stand back and look at everything in amazement and think "How can it possibly get worse next season?" Then it does. The candidates for 2008 were absurd. 2012 was more absurd. Between the time I wrote my script and publishing it, Snowden and the NSA happened. If history continues to be prophetic, the candidates for 2016 are sure to be even less qualified. How can it possibly get worse between now and then? I don't know. With that, I'd like to keep my options open... probably when they get close to narrowing it down to only two candidates.

Will I definitely make an update? I don't know. Ideas strike me when they strike me. If I can stop sobbing long enough when I wake up at 3:00 AM with the nightmares of the American political landscape, then maybe there will be an updated version.

Oh, one other thing: If it turns out that you prefer the version that is currently available, I'll keep a copy of the original version on the website too. There's no reason why both scripts can't co-exist at the same time. I'm not like some other script writer that will remain unnamed who alters his script every chance he gets and then removes just about all traces of the original.

Thanks and Dedication

I'd like to offer special thanks to N. Palmer, and the twins Matthew and Aaron for their ideas and help.

I'd also like to dedicate this script to a few people. First and foremost, this script is dedicated to my best friend and his family -- for the courage they continue to show to take life "one step at a time". Secondly, this script is also posthumously dedicated to Robin Williams (1951 - 2014). Although I didn't know him and never met him, Mr. Williams inspired me twice in two very different ways. Over two years before his death, he inadvertently helped give birth to this script. Also, approximately two years before his death, Mr. Williams unknowingly touched me on a very personal level. I will simply say it involved fake doctors, Russian accents, and supermen.
